Fees worth asking about before you sign
- Tech package ($70) and amenity fee ($25): ask whether they’re mandatory and what they cover.
- Boiler management fee ($13.75): ask what it’s for.
- Common-area electricity and gas: residents are billed for a share of the building’s shared-space utilities. Ask how that share is calculated.
- Conservice service fee: a charge for the company that bills you for utilities.
- Parking ($75) and pet rent ($50): ask for these in writing up front.
Before you pay an application fee: ask The Beverly for the total monthly cost in writing, every mandatory fee included. Greystar, which signs management’s replies to reviews, settled with the FTC and Arizona over rents advertised without mandatory fees.
